Can there be anything more likely to reduce daytime TV viewers to childishly giggling wrecks than a vaguely naughty word popping up on Countdown?
Well no, actually. And this particular effort came courtesy of Dictionary Corner guest Dave Myers, who offered it up during one round as host Nick Hewer and letters whiz Rachel Riley struggled not to laugh.
He could have gone one better and come up with the eight-letter word asteroid, of course – but that wouldn’t have been quite so funny now would it?
Oh and incidentally his Dictionary Corner co-host Susie Dent went on to reveal that ‘todgers’ is indeed in the dictionary and so would have counted if either of the contestants had come up with it.
Of course it’s not the first time that Countdown has turned in to something resembling a Carry On movie.
For example let’s not forget the moment during the summer when this happened:
Or the unexpected appearance of this:
To be fair though, it’s not the first time that ‘todgers’ has reared its head (so to speak) on Countdown:
For those wanting to see the moment for themselves, they can do so on Friday’s edition of the show, which airs on Channel 4 at 2.10pm.
