Arsenal are reportedly keeping a close eye on Hamburg’s defensive midfielder Tolgay Arslan ahead of a prospective move for the 24-year-old next year.
According to The Mail, The Gunners have already been in contact with the midfielder’s representatives as the player will become a free agent next summer when his current deal with Hamburg expires.
It is claimed Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is keen to sign a defensive midfielder next year, with the Germany under-21 international fitting the Gunners’ style of play, although Arslan is believed to want wages of about £40,000 a week to move to north London.
The midfielder – who is of Turkish descent – was born in Germany and chose to represent the World Cup winners despite originally playing for his country of origin.
The 24-year-old plays in the holding midfield role, but started his career as a striker before being pushed back into midfield.
