Arsene Wenger has hinted that he’s planning to keep forward Lukas Podolski in January after the German scored Arsenal’s crucial winner against Anderlecht.

Podolski, who has made no secret of the fact he’s been frustrated with life in north London, came off the bench to hand the Gunners a 2-1 win over Belgian side Anderlecht.

And speaking after the match about the 29-year-old’s future, Wenger said the player was never close to leaving and will be staying ‘for the coming months’.

‘Lukas is frustrated and I understand that, but he’s never been close to leaving,’ Wenger explained.

‘He will be important in the coming months – it took him a while to get back to a good physical level after the World Cup, but now he’s nearly there.’

We just need to see a little bit more of this now, Lukas…
