The wife of a British man found wrapped in a plastic bag with his throat slit on the Indonesian island of Bali has confessed to ordering a hit on her husband.

According to police, a local farmer discovered Robert Kelvin Ellis lying in a rice field with his arms and legs tied and in a plastic bag in Bangdung in the southern part of the island. His throat was slashed several times, severing a major artery.

And the 60-year-old’s wife Julaikah Noor Aini admitted to police that she had ordered her husband’s death for several reasons including that he had been unfaithful.

‘We have appointed his wife as a suspect. We have also caught one of the killers and we are still pursuing three others,’ said police chief Komang Suartana.

‘The motive is because his wife felt embittered with the victim.’

Police say Mr Ellis, a British citizen, was living at the Emerald Villa complex in Sanur with his wife while the couple’s two sons studied in Australia.

‘We were notified about the death of a British national on Bali on October 21. The Foreign Office stands ready to give consular assistance,’ the Foreign Office told Sky News.
