Cop fail: NYPD officer kicks colleague in the head thinking he’s the suspect

An overzealous police officer rushed to help apprehend a man only to kick a colleague in the head thinking he was the suspect.

In a video of the arrest, two NYPD officers struggle to pull a man to the floor and arrest him at a subway station.

But when reinforcements arrive, one plainclothes officer wearing heavy construction boots aims a kick at the head of the man he believes to be the perp – only to realise it’s one of his colleagues.

‘He kicked a cop!’ a bystander can be heard shouting.

NY Daily reports that the undercover officer was immediately relegated to desk duty after the video of the incident released, with a high-ranking source saying that the it was ‘clear the kick wasn’t prompted by anything’.

It later transpired the suspect hadn’t paid for a fare. He pleaded guilty to a lesser charge.
