Did you miss James Blunt’s first agony uncle column in today’s Metro? Fear not – it’s right here!
He may be in the middle of an epic 18-month tour but James Blunt has managed to put some time aside to come to the rescue of our troubled Guilty Pleasures readers.
After proving himself to be a comic genius on Twitter in dealing with fans and combating haters, James needed no audition to land this special role.
In his first week acting as the official Guilty Pleasures agony uncle, 40-year-old Blunty dishes out some hard truths and offers his advice on an array of love life issues and work crisis problems.
I was with a guy for two years. I miss him and think of all our happy times together. We broke up because his family didn’t like that I was older by five years. He is 23. My family are also not that supportive of us because of our ages and finances. What do I do?
Secret K, via email
Dear Secret K,
In matters of love and money, parents are always right. In two years, when your body clock is screaming for babies, he’s going to be 25, and still hoping for a decade of bachelorhood. And if I’m honest, his family didn’t split up with you – he did.
Is it OK not to have kissed your girlfriend after you have been together for a year and a bit?
Matty B, via email
Dear Matty B,
If you are both three years old, this is fine. If not, she’s not your girlfriend. She’s just your friend.
I get told all the time, ‘You’re beautiful’. However, I am still single and I keep getting chatted up by mingers. Please advise how I could find ‘the one’ so I never have to say Goodbye My Lover?
West Mids Boy, Wolverhampton
Dear West Mids Boy,
Beggars can’t be choosers, my friend. Those mingers are doing you a favour. Either close your eyes, or drink them pretty.
Me and my boyfriend have been together almost three years and lived together for two. Recently, he’s started expressing his desire to buy a house and have a baby. However, in the past week, he’s done a 360-degree turn and now doesn’t know what he wants. This is the second time he’s felt like this and I don’t know whether to fight, or leave it be and move on. Help.
Victoria, via email
Is it definitely him expressing those desires, or are you pushing your desires on him? When a man knows what he wants, he goes out and gets it. If he’s unsure, it generally means he doesn’t.
I am an estate agent and my life is being made hell by my boss. He bullies me and contradicts everything I do, so he is impossible to please. Should I cut my losses and quit to escape his reign of terror? Or persevere and think of the six-figure bonus I’ll get at the end of the financial year? Please help.
Six-figure bonus!?!? I have done worse for less. Give yourself to him. You might learn to enjoy it.
James’ new single, When I Find Love Again, and album Moon Landing: Apollo Edition are out on November 3.
