X Factor finalist Chloe Jasmine Whichello has hit out at the press and people who criticise the way that she talks.
Speaking exclusively to Metro.co.uk, the 23-year-old – who was mentored by judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini on the show, before being voted out last week – said: ‘I’ve faced quite a bit of controversy.
‘You know what? From this whole experience I now know you can’t believe everything that you read.’
Continuing: ‘It’s quite disgusting how information can be distorted or down right fabricated. We were pictured last week and it was like I was being dragged from the building and I was like “what is this?”.
‘I was at the Hilton with my friend, Ben, Lola and Stevi, so I was like “ok apparently I’m being dragged from the building because I refused to go back to the house. Interesting”.
‘Do you know what, certain people will be targeted for being different and it’s such a shame that information has to be fabricated to make a good story.’
Addressing claims that her ‘posh accent’ is put on, she responded: ‘People are going to challenge anything. If someone came on with a Manchurian accent how is that any different to someone with a British accent?
‘I think it’s in regards to the 2006 incident when I came out of boarding school and I tried to get rid of my accent. I’ve always suffered adversity. It’s hard to be a person trying to be normal in the world.
‘I can’t clarify with anyone what defines normal and we’re all trying to desperately to blend in but I don’t think you should be ashamed of yourself – how you talk and how you behave. You can’t control it.
Surmising: ‘Life is too short to be constantly worrying about how you’re being perceived. People who mind don’t matter.’
