Hold on to your heartstrings.

A retired firefighter has attended the graduation of a girl he saved from a fire when she was just nine-months-old.

Mike Hughes, 61, was working at the Washington Fire Department 17-years-ago when he responded to an emergency call about a house fire.

Hughes saved Dawnielle Davison, now 18 and a high school senior, from her cot while the whole interior of the house was engulfed in flames.
