Claudia Winkleman will return to Strictly Come Dancing this weekend after taking a three-week break in the wake of her daughter’s recent accident.
There had been speculation that Tess Daly’s co-host – who has been replaced by Zoe Ball for the past three weeks – would not be back at all this series after Matilda, eight, suffered serious burns on Halloween.
However the BBC have now confirmed on the show’s official website that she will be rejoining Tess on Saturday night.
Claudia herself has tweeted ahead of her return to the show, thanking everyone for their support.
She added that Matilda is ‘doing well’ and is on the road to recovery.
Previous reports had indicated that Claudia – who also missed last weekend’s Blackpool special – would remain absent from the show for as long as it took Matilda to recover fully, sparking fears that she may not return.
‘Matilda is taking great strides in her recovery, but a long way off being completely better and Claudia just doesn’t think it would be appropriate to be on stage being upbeat while her daughter is unwell,’ a source told The Sun.
The youngster was badly burned while trick-or-treating near the family’s home in London, after her costume caught a tealight and went up in flames.
Meanwhile Claudia is not the only familiar face who’ll be back in the Strictly ballroom this weekend.
The show – now back at Elstree following the Blackpool extravaganza – will also welcome back 2013 pro Anya Garnis as well as Robin Windsor, who pulled out of the series after suffering a back injury.
The pair will appear alongside the other dancers in their latest group routine.
