In Kate’s third public appearance of the week, we finally got a glimpse of the tiny baby bump.
Thanks to the countless pictures taken of the Duchess this week, it’s felt slightly like an elaborate time-lapse video. In each of Kate’s three public appearances, her bump appears to have grown ever so very slightly before our eyes.
On Wednesday morning, it was non-existent as she wore an Alexander McQueen frock coat to greet the president of Singapore.
Then, that evening, a small protuberance could be identified when she stood sideways in her ice blue Jenny Packham evening dress at the Wildlife Photographer of The Year Awards (though that might just have been dinner).
And last night, there was a definite (maybe) pregnancy bump sighting as she wore a slashed black Temperley London dress to the Action on Addiction Autumn Gala Evening dinner and reception at L’Anima Restaurant in Shoreditch.
The £595 Emblem flare dress, which is currently on sale on the Temperley site, is described as being ‘inspired by stained glass ironwork and woven from a lightweight cotton-blend yarn.’
It gave the illusion of naked flesh underneath but the slashed panels actually just exposed the nude slip underneath, preserving Kate’s modesty.
Kate has been patron of Action on Addiction since January 2012. The charity is unique in that it works across the addiction field in research, prevention, treatment, professional education, support for families and children and campaigns.
While the Duchess chatted happily among the assembled guests throughout the evening, she was apparently keeping mum on the sex of the second royal baby.
Charity supporter Christopher Holder said of his conversation with Kate: ‘I think there was talk of her heels and there was talk about the baby and I think someone asked the question “what is it going to be?” but she didn’t answer.’ Gah.
