Langenberg Wildlife Park have come up with a rather novel way to deal with their overcrowding problem – serve the excess animals up as meals in their onsite restaurant.
Controversial dishes on the restaurant’s menu include wild deer park capaccio, boar sausages and venison in cognac – all made from animals who previously lived in the park.
Unsurprisingly some visitors to the wildlife park have been a little upset by the practice. One visitor on TripAdvisor commented: ”We were somewhat perturbed and upset to find that some of the animals from the Zoo are served as food in the restaurant.’
However Zoo spokesman Martin Kilchenmann stood by their decision, explaining: ‘It’s not our goal to sell the meat in the restaurant…It’s not so easy to control the breeding of deer and boars. We’re not trying to make the menu look good.’
