RIP Lynda Bellingham (Picture: PA)

Lynda Bellingham tragically lost her battle to cancer aged 66 yesterday, ending an impressive showbiz career spanning five decades.

Rarely out of work, she was known for roles on television, film and stage.

Her film debut came in 1976’s Confessions Of A Driving Instructor, but it was 1983 that saw a 16-year stint for which she would be greatly remembered as The Oxo Mum.

From Loose Women to Strictly Come Dancing: Metro take a look back at some of Lynda Bellingham’s most memorable screen moments…

Confessions Of A Driving Instructor (1976) – one of a series of British sex farces, far more explicit than the Carry On films:

Taking up the role of the Oxo Mum in 1983, she appeared in the popular gravy ads on television for 16 years:

Doctor Who – she played the Inquisitor in a 14-episode arc in 1986: #t=1m42s

Appearing in sitcom Second Thoughts (1991 – 994):

Strictly Come Dancing 2009 – she was paired with Darren Bennett, but voted out in the fourth week:

Loose Women – she joined the daytime panelist show from 2009 to 2011, returning to film her last show days before her death:

Calendar Girls – appearing in the west end, she toured for 5 years with the show:

Rest in peace Lynda Bellingham.
