Manchester City fans face the prospect of having a wasted trip to Moscow after their sneaky attempts to watch their side’s Champions League clash against CSKA have been kiboshed by police.

Tonight’s game will be played behind closed doors as punishment for CSKA fans’ racist chants and banners against Viktoria Plzen last year.

But despite Bayern Munich fans getting around the ban by watching from a nearby tower block when their side took on the Russian outfit last month, City fans’ attempts to follow suit have been stopped, according to the Mirror.

Many City supporters had already paid for flights and accommodation in the Russian capital before learning CSKA’s matches would be played behind closed doors.
