There’s nothing quite like making your mark on a game when you come on as a substitute.

And while Perth Glory’s Ruben Zadkovich may not have had the time to directly impact the result, he certainly left his mark on Wellington Phoenix’s Vince Lia – resulting in a red card just 17 seconds after coming on as a substitute.

Zadkovich replaced team-mate Rostyn Griffiths 61 minutes into yesterday’s 2-1 A-League victory over Wellington, but was walking back down the tunnel again seconds later after a tackle which was, at best, over-enthusiastic and at worst, horrific.

The referee had little choice but to show the midfielder a straight red card which was so fast, the concept of an ‘early’ bath would have been pretty redundant.
