Renee Zellweger has hit back at claims she has had plastic surgery as ‘silly’.

The Bridget Jones actress shocked onlookers at the Elle’s 21st annual Women in Hollywood Awards yesterday when she turned up with what looked like a whole new face.

But Renee, who’s been romancing musician Doyle Bramhall II since 2012, says the change is all down to living a ‘happy, more fulfilling life’.

The 45-year-old Oscar winner told People magazine: ‘I’m glad folks think I look different! My friends say that I look peaceful. I am healthy.

‘I’m thrilled that perhaps it shows.’

The rumour mill went in to overdrive when Renee sported puffy cheeks, a wrinkle-free forehead, and what appeared to be an entirely new set of eyes.

But the Bridget Jones star said her new look is simply down to living a more balanced life.

‘For a long time I wasn’t doing such a good job with [keeping healthy],’ she said.

‘I took on a schedule that is not realistically sustainable and didn’t allow for taking care of myself.

‘Rather than stopping to recalibrate, I kept running until I was depleted and made bad choices about how to conceal the exhaustion.

‘I was aware of the chaos and finally chose different things.’

The self confessed gym bunny also revealed that she’s spent the past few years ‘making a home,’ ‘loving someone,’ and ‘growing into myself.’
