Mark Reckless might have become Ukip’s second MP in yesterday’s by-election, however there was another candidate who might also pique your interest.

Self described ‘sex worker and sexual trainer‘ Charlotte Rose ran as an independent candidate in the Rochester and Strood by-election.

Her main policy seemed to be bringing sexual freedom to her potential constituents, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough to convince the voters.

She told the BBC her political focus was on ‘sexual freedom – taking control away from others’.

Another issue she is campaigning for is improved sex education in schools.

Ms Rose only won 43 votes, trailing far behind Mr Reckless who gained 16,867 votes.

Despite the odds being against her from the start, Ms Rose went in confident and tweeted images of the fun (or at least, as much fun as you can have in a by-election) throughout the night.

If her face looks familiar, it might be because she took part in in the Rupert Everett documentary Love for Sale on Channel four, where the actor spoke to the sex-worker-turned-politician about her profession.

She also ran in the Clacton by-election, but again failed to win a seat in Parliament.
