Sir Alex Ferguson’s illustrious career as manager of Manchester United is set to be turned into a movie.

Ferguson’s 26 years at the helm of the Old Trafford outfit and his subsequent retirement from the game could be depicted in a film based on the Scot’s 2011 book ‘Sir Alex Ferguson — The Official Manchester United Story Of 25 Years At The Top’.

The movie is the idea of former New York Cosmos and USA star Werner Roth, who has already contacted co-author of the book David Meek for his help in turning Ferguson’s story into a film for the big screen.

‘The idea is very much in its early stages. But obviously it could be a fascinating portrayal of an exceptional man,’ Meek said.

Roth – who made an appearance in the movie Escape To Victory in the early 1980s – is currently looking for ways to fund the film before going ahead with the project.
