Olly Murs has found himself at the mercy of Taylor Swift after sending her a grovelling apology over his ‘sexist’ remarks.
The Troublemaker singer, 30, was in hot water after pleading with the pop babe to ‘let it go’ and ‘write something new’ instead of songs about her split with Harry Styles, 20.
‘I reached out to Taylor around two days ago. I gave her a letter and said, “I’m really sorry… It came out wrong. I’m sorry I didn’t mean to make any offence”,’ Murs back-pedalled.
‘It always came out that every article says Taylor writes songs and they always link it to Harry so I was just making a joke and defending my mate.’
Slammed for his ‘sexist angle’ by Swift, 24, Murs insists his comments were blown out of proportion. ‘I’m not and I’ve never been sexist, I don’t think that’s right,’ he told the Daily Mail Australia.
‘It wasn’t nice what I said but it was a joke. I didn’t expect it to blow up like it did.’
Swift was reportedly inspired by her break-up with Styles last year to pen new track Out Of The Woods and her hit I Knew You Were Trouble.
But she claims she’s getting a hard time because she’s a woman.
She told 2Day FM: ‘No-one says that about Ed Sheeran. No one says it about Bruno Mars. They’re all writing songs about their exes, their girlfriends, their love life, and no one raises a red flag there.’
