Instead, the classy Reds captain gestured to the Real Madrid defender that they could exchange in the tunnel away from the spotlight, following Liverpool’s resounding 3-0 defeat at the hands of the reigning Champions League holders.
Gerrard’s decision-making will likely serve as a valuable lesson to the under-fire Italian striker, who was hooked at half-time after swapping shirts with Real defender Pepe while Liverpool trailed 3-0.
