Scientists may be able to ‘turn off’ an enzyme to end obesity (in mice) So far it only works on mice though (Picture: Getty) It’s one of the fastest growing pandemics in the world – obesity. But now scientists believe they have made a breakthrough which could help reverse this trend by testing, of course, on mice. By turning off a certain enzyme in mice researchers from the German Cancer Research Center found they were able to feed the test mice fatty foods high in calories and yet they did not gain any weight. Not only that, but none of the animals developed diabetes or any other illnesses which often accompany poor diet and excessive […] Read more →

Joel Campbell needs to start more for Arsenal while Aaron Ramsey must return to deep midfield role

Joel Campbell needs to start more for Arsenal while Aaron Ramsey must return to deep midfield role Aaron Ramsey is not himself in a more advanced midfield role (Picture: Reuters) Arsenal’s performances have been far from ideal lately. But what needs to change? Picking up just two wins from eight in the Premier League is relegation form and it’s hard to justify why some players continue to be selected. It’s even harder to understand such selection decisions when a World Cup star in Joel Campbell is sitting on the bench. The Costa Rican is not as comfortable in possession as Arsenal’s current midfielders, but he is unpredictable and creative. He at least deserves a Premier League start to […] Read more →

17 thoughts every girl has while shopping in Topshop The place of dreams and overdrafts (Picture: Instagram/Topshop) Because you go into Topshop and you just don’t understand anything in life, at all. 1. I haven’t been in Topshop in ages, this is a good idea, there’s always loads of things I want in here. Oh look, those coats are AMAZING. I really need a coat. See, good idea. 2. Ah, they’re £100, OK, right, I see. Hmm. 3. Topshop definitely wasn’t this expensive when I was a teenager. There’s no way my mum would have forked out £100 for a coat. 4. OH MY GOD A T-SHIRT WITH A […] Read more →

Yes, this is a tree full of penises and, no, it’s not a joke

Yes, this is a tree full of penises and, no, it’s not a joke Look closer… (Picture: Getty) Oh look, another musty old medieval Italian mural. But, what’s that unusual fruit? Oh, ok, I’ve spoiled it with the headline. Yes, it’s penises. The Massa Marittima, in Tuscany, was created the 13th century and its central item is a cock tree. There they are, all 25 of them, complete with balls, dancing in the breeze. Underneath are some ladies standing about, one of whom appears to be trying to get one with a pole in a ‘hook the duck’ fashion. The mural was discovered in 2000 and restored three years ago. But, cock horror, the […] Read more →
